For us in the northern hemisphere, June 21st ushers in fun and summer wellness. This is the summer solstice, which simply wouldn’t be complete without tending to the needs of the spirit and nourishing the soul. The soul is the spiritual part of your being; the essence of who you are. Summer solstice is also known as midsummer and celebrated globally. Therefore July and August (our midsummer) is the perfect time to celebrate the essence of who you are and nurture your soul. Ritual and ceremony play a large part when celebrating the solstice. Use the following to develop your own personal ritual as part of your celebration for becoming the very best [soul] that you can be.

Sustenance
Feed your soul with what sustains you. Surround yourself with the things, places and people that make you feel your best. Soul food is not only edible, its whatever nourishes your spirit. Only you know what that is and only you can figure this out. One way to do so is to…

Observe Yourself and Your Interactions.
Too often we are our worse critics; finding fault with ourselves where there is none. Instead, make a list of what you like and love about yourself, then commit to enhancing those attributes. Accentuating the positive tends to eliminate the negative. The more you practice this, the more you self-love will increase. When it does, you’ll become a master at discerning who and what helps boost your self-esteem.

Underneath It All.
Peel back the layers of your life to find what makes you happy. Delve into your memory to find the time period when your soul felt the most fulfilled. Ask yourself when were you most happy and why. Your answers to these questions unearth the truth of who you are and what you truly desire in life. Knowing this enables you to create present-day circumstances that help you recreate those happy feelings and manifest what you want.

Laugh, Laugh, and Laugh Some More.
You don’t need to sit in a circle while forcing yourself to laugh hysterically at nothing, in an attempt at “laugh therapy”. Turn your tv to the comedy channel, Google a joke, or search for funny videos on YouTube and conduct your own therapy session. Laughter can help to heal your physical body, ease your mind, uplift your spirit and nutrify your soul!
